Sustainable Tourism

We work with the idea that we should leave a better world for our children.

The water used on our farm is heated by solar panels; electricity mostly comes from our photovoltaic plant; heating is made by geothermal energy; the swimming pool is disinfected by electrolysis of normal table salt and the chlorine thereby produced is not harmful to the environment and it doesn’t sting the skin and eyes; our olives are not treated with any plant protection product.

We have chosen a kind of grass, for the garden around the farmhouse, which is extremely resistant to heat and drought. By doing so, our guests can enjoy the bright green grass knowing that water has not been wasted on irrigation.

The tourism that STELLA DI MAREMMA promotes is:

  • sustainable tourism, because it promotes organic farming and protects the environment, chooses energy from renewable sources, values sustainable mobility, promotes separate waste collection and recycling, reuses rainwater and wastewater, chooses green building products and offers its guests organic textile products and eco cosmetics and clean detergent products
  • a responsible tourism, because it emphasizes places and traditions of local host communities, enhancing their historical, artistic and cultural heritage
  • a tourism that promotes accommodations with a reduced environmental impact and that do not abuse environmental resources for the benefit of providing tourist services
  • a tourism for individuals and families who choose a healthy lifestyle model that is attentive to local food and wine traditions.
